Yusuf Opakunle, DPM
Diplomate, American Board of Podiatric Medicine
Dr. Opakunle, or Dr O as we lovingly call him, is a Board-Certified Podiatric surgeon serving patients in Gwinnett county. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria and immigrated to the United States in 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Afterwards, he attended medical school at New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed a three-year advanced reconstructive foot and ankle podiatry surgical residency at Emory Decatur Hospital, Atlanta, GA, serving as chief resident during his final year. During his residency, he completed the AAFAO comprehensive and advanced courses of internal fixation for reconstructive surgery and trauma of the Foot and Ankle; and Arthroscopy course of the Foot and Ankle with nationally renowned foot and ankle surgeons at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).
Dr. Opakunle has privileges at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. He takes full foot and ankle Emergency Room calls at the hospital. His office is well equipped to treat non-surgical urgent care needs and he is available 24 hours a day for all foot and ankle emergencies.
During his training at Emory, Dr. O performed over 1000 foot and ankle surgeries. Dr. Opakunle is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a member of the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He also serves as a faculty member of the Podiatry Institute, a non-profit education foundation recognized internationally for its leading role in the advancement of podiatric medicine and surgery. He actively lectures at national meetings and is a contributing author to the Podiatry Institute’s annual textbook with numerous publications. He has volunteered in multiple marathon races in both Atlanta and New York.
Dr. O, with his years of experience, looks forward to interacting with everyone in the community and is excited to provide care to patients in Gwinnett County and surrounding areas. His expertise includes all aspects of foot and ankle management including diagnosis and management of foot and ankle pathologies. His special and clinical interest includes diabetic wound care, ingrown nails, plantar warts, heel pain, bunions, hammertoes, ankle pain, flat foot, and fracture care.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, swimming and playing soccer (the real football). He believes patients get the best outcome through individualized patient care and evidence-based medicine.

We collect the co-payment amount for each visit on the day of service. For patients without insurance coverage, we offer cash pay option, discounts and can discuss payment arrangements.
